“In the Greenville-Mauldin-Anderson statistical area this year, about 25,400 people are employed in the ‘temporary help services’ industry, as the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics calls it. Temp or staffing agencies do the work of advertising, interviewing, conducting background checks and — at times — provide training and basic education to would-be workers.”
