1st shift: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. (Machining Associates)

Assembly Operators

Job Description for Assembly Operators:
General responsibility for production related operations to manufacture drive shafts. Work may include the use of hand tools, power tools, gauges, fixtures, and machinery. Typical operations would include loading and unloading of materials from machines, light assembly such as attaching mechanical parts, bolts or nuts, installing bearing brackets, painting and packaging of parts or assemblies using defined methods.

Education Requirements for Assembly Operators:
– High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Experience Required for Assembly Operators:
– 2 years manufacturing experience

Essential Functions for Assembly Operators:
– Assembly machine operation in auto and manual cycles per the certification and/or work instructions
– Manual loading and unloading of assembly machines and part containers
– Use of various gauges to measure product characteristics
– Follows established standard operating procedures per the certifications and/or work instructions
– Collects, records, and analyzes quality data as required
– Complies with QS 9000 / TS 16949 requirements
– Meets production schedules and targets as defined by the production plan, Supervisor or Line Manager
– Monitors machine set-up and conformance to specifications
– All employees are responsible for having an awareness and understanding of IFA-Rotorion North America’s commitment to ISO 140001
– Follows defined safety and housekeeping policies

Additional Responsibilities for Assembly Operators:
– Acquire training and certification per the Assembly Coordinator, Supervisor, or Line Manager
– Trains, monitors, and assists temps or new hires per the Assembly Coordinator, Supervisor, or Line Manager to acquire certifications and training

General Requirements for Assembly Operators:
– Understanding of tolerances limits
– Basic understanding of industrial machines and gauges
– Familiar with “lean” production concepts
– Knowledge of both metric and English measurement systems
– Knowledge of basic mathematics skills including addition, subtractions, multiplication, and division
– Ability to perform repetitive operations
– Ability to read and write English
– Must be able to walk/move around a 125,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility, 100% of the time
– Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop
– Must be able to lift up to 40lbs on a frequent basis, 40% of the time
– Must be able to lift over 40lbs on an infrequent basis
– Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal
– Must be able to work overtime as needed

Machining Associates

Job Description for Machining Associates:
This position has general responsibility for production related operations to manufacture drive shafts and components. Work may include the use of hand tools, gauges, fixtures, and CNC machinery. Typical operations would include loading and unloading of materials from machines, starting and stopping machine operation, tool change, light assembly such as attaching mechanical parts, bolts or nuts, using defined methods.

Education Requirements for Machining Associates:
– High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Experience Required for Machining Associates:
– CNC Machining experience
– Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Essential Functions for Machining Associates:
– Machine operation in auto and manual cycles per the certification and/or work instructions
– Manual loading and unloading of production machines and part containers
– Use of various gauges to measure product characteristics
– Follows established standard operating procedures per the certifications and/or work instructions
– Collects, records, and analyzes part quality data as required
– Complies with QS 9000 / IATF 16949 requirements
– Meets production schedules and targets as defined by the production plan, Supervisor or Line Manager
– Assists in machine set-up and conformance to specifications

Physical Requirements for Machining Associates:
– Must be able to walk/move about a 400,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility
– Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area: 90% of the time
– Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop: 70% of the time
– Must be able to lift up to 30lbs on a frequent basis: 40% of the time
– Must be able to lift over 30lbs on an infrequent basis: 15% of the time
– Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal: 80% of the time
– Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc.
– Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences
– Must be able to work with oils/solvents/cleaners

Production Technicians

Job Description for Production Technicians:
This position supports manufacturing operations and is responsible for setting up and changing over automated production equipment. This position is also responsible for troubleshooting machine and process issues as a first line of defense against machine and process failures. Work is of the technical nature where independent judgment is used and decisions are made within the limits of general practice policies. Works with minimal supervision.

Education Requirements for Production Technicians:
– High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; technical degree in areas of manufacturing preferred

Experience Required for Production Technicians:
– Minimum three (3) years of manufacturing experience (automotive preferred)
– Minimum one (1) year in setting up production machines
– Knowledge in product or process troubleshooting desired

Required Skills for Production Technicians:
– Ability to set up, operate, adjust and troubleshoot machines to make parts to close tolerance and finish specifications requiring a high level of skill
– Basic mathematical skills
– Ability to use Microsoft Office software

Essential Functions for Production Technicians:
– Performs machine set-up and verifies part conformance to specifications
– Ensures that the output of the line is meeting overall equipment efficiency targets
– Evaluates causes of process variations and identifies probable causes; interaction with manufacturing engineering and production supervision as necessary to confirm the causes and identify the appropriate corrective action to resolve unacceptable quality conditions
– Ensures the customer’s product requirements are met in all assigned areas
– Verifies product quality characteristics have been measured and documented
– Monitor/adjust process used to make our products to specification
– Operates and adjusts automated machines where programs are provided and maintained by others
– Train and evaluate new operators within the manufacturing line
– Ability to lead and direct operator activities
– Possess extended knowledge of machine operations, while using advanced troubleshooting skills to diagnose and repair minor technical issues
– Capable of creating and following work instructions
– Perform periodic inspections of operator maintenance programs
– Ensure production personnel are performing and documenting scheduled operator maintenance activities
– Follows defined OSHA safety and housekeeping policies

– Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area
– Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop
– Must be able to lift up to 30lbs on a frequent basis
– Must be able to lift over 30lbs on an infrequent basis
– Must be able to sit at a work station
– Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal

Maintenance Electricians

Job Description for Maintenance Electricians:
General responsibility for the maintenance and repair of complex production machinery and equipment. Includes diagnosis, troubleshooting, breakdown, preventative and predictive measures.

Education Requirements for Maintenance Electricians:
– Associates Degree Preferred

Experience Required for Maintenance Electricians:
– Knowledge of local electrical codes and standards
– 2+ years experience troubleshooting / debugging PLC controlled systems

Specific Skills for Maintenance Electricians:
– Good communication skills (oral & written)
– Ability to read and understand ladder logic and electrical one line diagrams
– Aptitude for learning new software and hardware systems

Essential Functions for Maintenance Electricians:
– Diagnose and correct problems with automated machinery (primarily Siemens controlled)
– Perform equipment failure analysis
– Provide assistance to engineering personnel as needed
– Update documentation for equipment
– Complete miscellaneous assignments as required
– Work in coordination with representatives from various machine builders and colleagues from Germany
– Interpret and understand electrical drawing and schematics
– Assist in development of PM plans
– Assist in management of spare parts inventories
– Perform preventative and predictive maintenance tasks as required
– Follow strict safety procedures including “ lockout”
– Use various electrical measurement equipment in connection with job duties

– Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area:  75% of the time
– Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop: 80% of the time
– Must be able to lift up to 40lbs on a frequent basis: 70% of the time
– Must be able to lift over 40lbs on an infrequent basis: 30% of the time
– Must be able to sit at a work station: 30% of the time
