Charles River Labs Hiring Event Details

HTI is hiring associates for collection season at Charles River Laboratories! These positions will start in April and will last through the end of June. Interested candidates should have a stable work history and will need to pass a background check and drug screening. Click Here to Learn More About the Collection Process

Where: Comfort Suites – 2080 Savannah Hwy Charleston SC 29407
What to wear to the event: Dress code is casual (come as you are, but please be presentable)

Job Openings & Pay Rates

– Starting at $18/hour

Collection Season Associate positions include:
– Washers/Rackers
– Tent associates
– Lab associates

Shifts Available

– 10-12 hour shifts – shift start times vary

Perks of the Job

– End of Season Bonus: $1.00 for every hour worked

Requirements

– Must be able to work 10 – 12 hour shifts
– Ability to work weekends, weather permitting
– Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
– Tasks require full range of motion of arms and upper body
– Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

 

 

Washer/Racker Responsibilities

– Rinse crabs until all debris and barnacles have been removed
– Identify and separate male crabs from female crabs and place into designated bins
– Secure crabs and spray with designated solutions
– Clean area including sink, bins, floor and racks
– Responsible for proficiency in all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in areas of responsibility
– Responsible for documentation as required by company policy, cGMP and FDA
– Must regularly wear protective clothing (gloves)
– Works with live animals (small, medium, large) with risk of exposure to allergens (shellfish)
– Exposed to alcohol and Bactine spray, is exposed to unpleasant odors, is exposed to wet, humid and/or warm temperature conditions
– Regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
– Frequently required to stand while performing duties; sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
– Frequently lift and/or moves and positions objects weighing up to 50 pounds
– Noise level in the work environment is usually low/moderate
– Perform all other related duties as assigned

Tent Associate Responsibilities

– Inspect and verify crabs for injuries and unresponsiveness prior to blood extraction
– Extract blood from racked crabs using a needle
– Collect blood into bottles and deliver to the laboratory
– Daily housekeeping responsibilities including but not limited to: cleaning walls, floor and tables within the tent area.
– Responsible for proficiency in all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in areas of responsibility
– Responsible for documentation as required by company policy, cGMP and FDA
– Regularly required to; stand, walk, and use hands in a repetitive manner
– Must regularly wear protective clothing (surgical mask, hairnet/ beard cover, gloves, Lab coats)
– Regularly works with or near sharp objects, caustic chemicals, biohazards, live animals
– Employee could occasionally be exposed to allergens (shellfish), unpleasant odors, wet/humid and/or warm temperature conditions
– Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate
– Perform all other related duties as assigned

Lab Associate Responsibilities

– Calibrate the balances every morning
– Prepare solution per SOP
– Pump solution in bottle, pass to the tent and 1st wash
– Remove unwanted material from container
– Add prepared washing solution to container and agitate thoroughly
– Combine 3 containers of agitated material
– Centrifuge material to separate desired material in container from washing solution in prep for next station
– Combine product into centrifuge tubes, centrifuge material to separate desired material in container
– Transfer to each station at appropriate times
– Read volume of product, and record the add of sterile water required per SOP
– Ensure all areas are properly cleaned and sanitized at the beginning and end or each shift.
– Clean Laminar flow hood areas and equipment in preparation for the next day
– Responsible for proficiency in all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) in areas of responsibility
– Responsible for documentation as required by company policy, cGMP and FDA.
– Regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
– Employee is frequently required to stand while performing duties; sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch
– Frequently lift and/or moves and positions objects weighing up to 50lbs pounds
– Detail orientated
– Must regularly wear protective clothing (Safety glasses, surgical mask, hairnet, gloves, lab coats, sleeve covers)
– The employee occasionally works with or near toxic or caustic chemicals with risk of exposure to allergens, is exposed to airborne particles, is exposed to unpleasant odors
– Flexible with working hours (there is a start time, but don’t get off at a certain time. Typically, 11.5 -12 hour days Monday – Friday and every other Saturdays.)
– Noise level in the work environment is usually low/moderate
– Perform all other related duties as assigned
