Job Openings and Pay Rates

– Furnace Operator: $28/hour
– Electronic Technician: base $36/hour
– Mechanical Technician: base $32/hour
*All positions will start Spring/Summer 2024

FURNACE OPERATOR

As a Production/Furnace Operator, you will be responsible for operating and managing equipment involved in smelting and refining processes. Our team, comprised of skilled operators with clearly defined roles, plays a crucial role in achieving high-quality results after comprehensive training.

Shifts Available

– 2nd shift (2:30pm – 11:30pm)
– 3rd shift (10:30pm – 7:30am)

Requirements

– High school diploma
– Personal Skills
– Experience with relevant software tools (MS Office, SAP, etc.)
– Basic proficiency in production software, HMI-process control software, MES, SAP, LIMS
– Work experience in an operational environment is advantageous
– Driver’s license for industrial trucks and overhead crane operation (or willingness to obtain)
– Experience with an oxygen burner lance and demolition robot (or willingness to obtain)
– Willingness to take responsibility and make decisions within equipment and process margins
– Open-minded, teamwork-oriented, result-driven, eager to learn, safety-conscious, and quality-aware
– Self-reflective and open to constructive criticism
– Reliability and openness to change processes

Responsibilities

– Utilize process control systems to respond to alarms, change parameters, and manage machinery
– Perform basic cleaning and maintenance tasks, ensuring operational spaces are tidy and equipment is well-maintained
– Use compressed air-driven tools for cleaning slag or molten metal
– Assist in smaller refractory repairs and basic computer work such as shift logbook updates
– Prepare and clean equipment before and after use, ensuring adherence to official work instructions
– Resolve minor malfunctions and participate in continuous improvement processes
– Adhere to safety, environmental, and quality standards
– Use the mandatory PPE at work

 

ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN

The Electronic Technician plays a crucial role in the field of electronics by providing support in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of electronic systems and components.

Shifts Available

– Must be available for any shift assigned

Requirements

– High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electrical engineering, automation, or a related field preferred
– Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working  as a controls Technician or in a similar role
– Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting(e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc
– Strong knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, and control devices
– Experience with SCADA systems, DCS, HMIs and other control system software
– Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagram, and technical manuals
– Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
– Strong communication and teamwork skills
– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
– Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed
– Must be able to perform the following: walking, standing, climbing, pulling, and or pushing, carrying, grasping, using hand-to-finger movement, balancing, reaching, twisting, turning and stooping for most of every day
– Good hand/eye coordination, motor skills, 20/20 corrected vision and hearing within the normal range. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
– Ability to respond quickly and efficiently to all safety needs on the floor or in the office areas

Responsibilities

– Assist in the design and development of electronic circuits, systems, or components
– Work with engineers to create prototypes and test new electronic designs
– Conduct tests on electronic systems to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards
– Identify and troubleshoot issues or malfunctions in electronic components
– Install, maintain, and repair electronic systems and equipment
– Perform routine maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of electronic devices

 

MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN – Preventative Maintenance

As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery. Your expertise in troubleshooting mechanical issues and performing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks will contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of our facilities.

Shifts Available

– 1st shift (6:30am – 3:30pm)
*must be flexible to work extended hours

Requirements

– High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred
– Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician or in a similar role, preferably in n industrial or manufacturing setting
– Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery, including principles of operation and maintenance requirements
– Proficiency in using hand and power tools to perform mechanical repairs and adjustments
– Familiarity with diagnostic tools and instruments for troubleshooting mechanical issues
– Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings
– Strong problem-solving and analytical skill
– Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
– Effective communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
– Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures in a mechanical maintenance environment
– Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects or equipment
– Must be willing and physically able to walk/work in, observe and spend time in a smelter environment

Responsibilities

– Develop a comprehensive maintenance schedule outlining the tasks that need to be performed regularly
– Schedule maintenance activities at times that have minimal impact on production or operation
– Create a detailed inventory of all equipment that requires preventive maintenance
– Document equipment specifications, manuals, and historical maintenance data
– Conduct regular visual inspections of equipment to identify signs of wear, damage, or potential issues
– Use checklists to ensure thorough inspections and documentation
– Implement a lubrication schedule for moving parts to prevent friction and reduce wear
– Use the appropriate lubricants as specified by equipment manuals
– Regularly calibrate equipment to ensure accurate measurements and reliable performance
– Follow manufacturer guidelines for calibration intervals
