The January newsletter will include more information on our Heart Walk team contest. The teams will form in January and have until April to get ready for the 3 mile walk AND to raise money for a great cause – the American Heart Association! The Heart Walk will be held in Greer on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 9am. We are now recruiting Heart Walk Team Captains – one from each HTI location. Team Captains will help to recruit and motivate their team members and we will have prizes for the top fundraising teams! If you think you’ve got what it takes to be a great Team Captain, please let me know and I’ll get your name on the list! We’ll have a kick-off event with representatives from the Heart Association for all Team Captains in late January.
Don’t forget to do the online health assessment with United Health Care before the end of January to earn your $75 gift card! Directions: Go to www.myuhc.com. Be sure to have your UHC health insurance card handy. You will need to enter your height, weight, and recent blood pressure/cholesterol (total and HDL) data. The assessment takes about 10 minutes and produces a detailed report on your overall health risks. Once you have finished the assessment, the website goes to a personalized “dashboard” with articles on health topics that correspond to your assessment results.
We are really excited about the launch of our internal HTIWellness Healthy Works website page coming up in January! The page will feature all of our wellness newsletters, information from United Health Care, a fitness/health events calendar, links to health-related websites/articles and updates on HTIWellness events! Stay tuned for more information, and please feel free to let us know if there are any topics or resources that you’d like us to include.
The New Year is a great time to make a fresh start, and many people chose a New Year’s resolution to change something about themselves or their lives. People make resolutions that focus on many different aspects, including physical health, mental/emotional well-being, financial stability, career advancement, relationships, stress management, education and personal happiness. Resolutions can also be outwardly focused – volunteering more, being more “green”, “paying it forward”, etc. Our January newsletter will have a great article on resolutions, but we wanted to get everyone thinking about changes they might want to make as we welcome 2012!
